Encouraging more people to get involved with their community

We are so lucky in West Oxfordshire to have so many volunteers and groups who want to get involved and make their local community a better place.  Since becoming your MP, I have made a strong effort to highlight all the fantastic work they do; it is these community groups that really are the glue that makes West Oxfordshire such an amazing place to live.  All too often, they are under the radar and many are not aware of the excellent work they do.

Each year I spend a week volunteering with different groups across our area, literally getting my hands dirty and helping out, getting to know the volunteers and those who rely on the services they provide.  I encourage you all to get out and see all the amazing things going on in our area and donating your time to help those around you. Robert Courts volunteers with CAB for local charities day

Today, Robert Courts joined volunteers at the Citizens Advice Bureau in Witney for Local Charities Day.

Robert said, "Thank you to West Oxfordshire CAB for letting me volunteer with you this morning for Local Charities Day - it was a great insight into the excellent work you do."

Robert joins Bladon to help plant a community orchard

Robert said, "I recently joined Bladon Parish Council, Bladon Primary School and the Village Hall Committee, all working together to provide village play facilities and a community orchard for their planting event - great to plant one of my own trees!"

Robert Courts help collect for Combat Stress

Robert said, "It was good to see my friends & colleagues from Oxfordshire Combat Stress in Witney recently, and to join them in spreading the word on the work this outstanding mental health charity does, locally & nationally."

APPG for Air Ambulances Annual Reception

Robert said, "It was a real pleasure to welcome the wonderful team from Thames Valley Air Ambulance to Parliament with Ed Vaizey MP this evening for annual air ambulance reception."

Robert meets with Westwell Parish Councillors

Robert recently met with local parish councillors in Westwell at Glebe house to discuss local issues.  Robert said, "I greatly enjoying discussing the issues which directly affect residents of the rural community - and I particularly appreciated the home-made biscuits!
