Supporting our Armed Forces

The armed forces are a key part of the identity of West Oxfordshire.  RAF Brize Norton is the largest military air base in Europe and home to a third of the Royal Air Force, and those who live and work at the base contribute strongly to our community.

As the Vice Chair (RAF) for the Armed Forces APPG, and with a personal interest in the RAF, I am working hard in Parliament to speak up on behalf of our armed forces and helping to ensure that West Oxfordshire remains a military hub for years to come.

Robert takes part in Poppy appeal in Parliament

Robert took part in the IPT Poppy Ride this morning, supporting the Poppy Legion's poppy appeal in aid of our armed forces veterans - the challenge was to cycle as far as possible in a certain time - a great way to fundraise and work up a sweat!

Robert Courts visits Thales in Brize Norton

Robert visited Thales, based at RAF Brize Norton. Thales provides the UK and the rest of the world with leading Aerospace, Space, Defence, Security and Transportation services and solutions - and employs many people here in West Oxfordshire. A really interesting visit!

Robert joins Aston to celebrate at the village fete

Robert was delighted to attend the fete and meet with the fete organiser - and hopes to attend next year!

He also met with the air cadets and tried out the simulator; it is so important to make the RAF accessible, especially in West Oxfordshire whit has such a strong presence.

Witney Army Cadets

I attended a moving parade & service by Witney Army Cadets on Friday night: the 100th anniversary of the end of the Battle of the Somme.
