GWR introduces mobile ticketing on their services

Mobile train ticketing is certainly a welcome step and is something Robert called for in his response to the Great Western Railway franchise consultation in February.

Mobile ticketing is fantastic for many reasons:

  • Avoids queues at busy ticket machines
  • More flexibility to buy tickets on the move
  • Removes reliance on one ticket machine at rural stations in West Oxfordshire for busy commuter services
  • Could save up to a 10m high stack of paper tickets every week

This is one step towards improved rail services in our area - but there are many more to go.
