Robert said: "The Government has just published new details on our future Environmental Land Management Scheme (ELM), which will see farmers paid for their hard work which enhances and protects our environment.

"Now we have left the European Union, we have the opportunity to ensure our environment and our farming sector are protected and work in harmony.

"This new scheme will see farmers paid for work that enhances the environment, such as tree planting, river management, or restoring habitats for wildlife - moving away from the current system which pays farmers simply based amount of land.

"Together we will ensure that British farming thrives while we address climate change head on, making sure our rural communities see the benefits from the vital work they do."
