Encouraging more people to get involved with their community

We are so lucky in West Oxfordshire to have so many volunteers and groups who want to get involved and make their local community a better place.  Since becoming your MP, I have made a strong effort to highlight all the fantastic work they do; it is these community groups that really are the glue that makes West Oxfordshire such an amazing place to live.  All too often, they are under the radar and many are not aware of the excellent work they do.

Each year I spend a week volunteering with different groups across our area, literally getting my hands dirty and helping out, getting to know the volunteers and those who rely on the services they provide.  I encourage you all to get out and see all the amazing things going on in our area and donating your time to help those around you. Robert hosts a Parliamentary Reception to celebrate U3A

Robert said, "I was delighted to host a Parliamentary reception for U3A to launch their new report ‘Learning not Lonely’ with their chairman - and West Oxfordshire constituent - Pam Jones, and celebrate the amazing work they do to combat loneliness in our communities.

Robert joins residents to celebrate the Eynsham Carnival

Robert said, "I greatly enjoyed joining residents and Cllrs Peter Kelland and Edward James to celebrate the excellent Eynsham Carnival. Dropping in on the many stalls - from the B4044 cycle path group, to the local TVP team, it was really a showcase of the fantastic community in Eynsham."

Robert celebrates the Taynton Village Fete

Robert, "I really enjoyed joining residents with my family to celebrate the Taynton Village fete - couldn't have asked for better weather for it and I would like to thank all the organisers and those that took part for putting on such a great event."

Robert joins residents for Carterton Play and Activity Day

Robert said, "Armed Forces Day is a chance to thank those who serve and have served - to support not only those men & women who make up the armed forces community, but also the families who support them, and the veterans for whom we all have so much respect.

Robert joins residents for Carterton Celebrates

Robert and family joined local residents for the first ever 'Carterton Celebrates'. As part of the celebrations he visited Carterton Open Gardens in aid of Thames Valley Air Ambulance, with whom he volunteers, and donated a bottle for the raffle. Excellent day!

Robert joins residents for the annual Bampton Shirt Race

Robert said, "It was a lovely evening last night for the enormous fun that is the annual Bampton Shirt Race - a West Oxfordshire village tradition that really has to be seen to be understood! Great to see local Cllr James Mills & Ted Fenton joining in the fun too!"
