Robert has welcomed this evening’s announcement by Chancellor Rishi Sunak of unprecedented support for business and workers – to protect against the economic emergency caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Robert said: "I've written to the Director of Thames Water to seek answers as to why Thames Water has gone back on its commitment to help fund an independent investigation into the health of the River Windrush.
Robert is delighted that a scheme to extend mobile coverage in hard-to-reach rural areas making poor mobile phone coverage a thing of the past has been given the green light, thanks to a major new deal between the Government and UK mobile network operators.
Speaking in Parliament, Robert said: "On World Book Day, I'm supporting World Book Day UK's Reading Revolution campaign, which aims to encourage parents and carers to read to their children for ten minutes a day, every day.
Robert said: "The Government has just published new details on our future Environmental Land Management Scheme (ELM), which will see farmers paid for their hard work which enhances and protects our environment.
Robert said: "Last night, we confirmed the biggest increase in councils’ spending power for a decade – ensuring local public services are properly supported, with a 4.4% real terms increase in funding.
